Public Safety

Greetings and Welcome!

You may observe your police officers in routine patrol and traffic procedures throughout the day and night. These duties are the visible deterrents to criminal activity in our community. Residents and visitors should be conscientious of speed limits and other traffic requirements. If you are aware of other problems, please report them so that we can get the word out if necessary.

Ruston PoliceRemember that the police are the ones who run toward trouble, even toward the sound of gunfire. They show up on someone’s “worst day” and would risk their lives to keep a complete stranger safe from harm. In Ruston, we are fortunate that dangerous situations don’t happen often, but we assure you – they do happen. From domestic violence to the instability of narcotics related incidents, mental illness and violent crime – our skills and reflexes must adapt to problem-solve dynamic and sometimes emotional situations. This difficult, but rewarding and challenging job requires courage, good decision–making and excellent communications skills. good decision–making and excellent communications skills.

Remember to buckle up and drive safely. We care.
